I am a certified Equine Myo-manipulative Therapist serving northern Michigan with equine massage therapy. Based out of Petoskey Michigan.
Every horse is of equal importance and they each deserve the best care I can provide.
A massage session will typically run between 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the horse.
Horse that are in competition Or strenuous activities benefit from massage 1-4 times per month. All horses who are asked to do a job can benefit from massage at least once every 3 months.
It is recommended that owners turn out or hand walk their horse for at least 10 minutes before a massage. Only light riding should be done 1-2 days following massage.
Most horses will be relaxed and sleepy following a session. If the horse was in a lot of pain, they may be agitated or annoyed following the first session. The majority will have an increased range of motion.
Massage will not be performed if the horse has a neurological disease, skin infection, cancer, or is in shock. Massage is not a replacement for veterinary medicine.
